What’s the perfect drink for Valentine’s Day?
Let’s face it,
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and among the thousands of things we have to organize we will also have to find the perfect drink to make our dinner even more special.
Whether it’s a cocktail or a nice glass of Sangiovese, our choice absolutely has to be thoughtful.
We must respect some simple considerations (especially if it is wine) in order to make the pairing work really well.
Pairing food and wine per contrast or congruence
What does contrast mean?
Well a contrast is created when there is a contrast of elements between the wine and the food in question. For example a typical contrast is the one of a bubbly wine, such as Sky of Montemaggio, with a nice dish of pasta alla carbonara.
What is a congruence instead?
A congruence is the balance you create by matching a wine with a dish having “congruent” characteristics. An example could be a well structured Sangiovese, but at the same time fine and elegant, with a Florentine steak (among other things recommended for Valentine’s Day.
Anyway, we can apply a similar rule for cocktails as well.
And today we have selected two that in our opinion are the best to celebrate this day (and also hide a good dose of versatility if combined well)
